Life thru the Lens 4/52... counting my blessings: a month in review

The Good...

As I sit here typing away, while the aroma of banana granola wafts though the air, I am amazed at how fast January has slipped by. We are three months into our adventure of being jobless and homeless. We are not totally destitute, we will be receiving a small retirement check, and oh how blessed we are to be living with my mother-in-law. So, technically we are not homeless. Insert long sigh, and gentle smile.

The Random...

It feels a bit weird to literally be suspended in limbo. We have big dreams, and huge ideas, of where we want our life to be, but that all hangs on several unknowns in our lives right now. Although I have been a vagabond my entire life, I have never been in this position where my life had no real direction. Where I was simply standing on a path waiting for some clue as to which direction I must head. Forward, for sure, but exactly where? Hmmmm.

There are days when that unknown really bothers me; have I mentioned I am a type A personality? But then, other days it really doesn't bother me at all. I have this uncanny feeling that it will all work out. It's the not knowing when or how it will work out that drives me nuts .

The Fun...

So, here's the thing. In our situation it would be really easy to wallow in the unknown, the what if(s) and the fear that tags along. And, somedays I do, but mostly, I count.

Life Thru the Lens 39/52... a month in review

September went by in a whirlwind. I am left wondering where the days went, and how did we arrive at this point so quickly? You will have to forgive me if I am not too social at Life Thru the Lens; the transition to civilian life has been quite hectic, and overwhelming. I promise my life will settle down, at some point, and then I will be back to my normal social self. Can I tell you though, this community fills my heart right up, and is keeping me sane during this transition to a new life. Thank you!!

Through the chaos, there has been beauty in my life...

The best part about this week is...

This girl becomes an adult this week. It is so surreal to think that my baby girl, our sweet Blue Eyes, is so gown up. She is an amazing young lady, and it is a honor to call her ours.

{Side note... if you have signed up for my email subscription, are they coming into your inbox? The first one worked for me, after I rearrange my site a bit, but since then crickets. I thought I fixed the problem, but I am not sure I did. Can you leave me a comment to let me know whether you are receiving my emails, or not.}

Life Thru the Lens 23:52... a month in review May

What did our Life Thur the Lens look like in May...

May seemed to wisp by with little to no fanfare at all. It swept by so quickly that we missed out on some events we wanted to attend. Bummer.

However...

~We read... Jane Erye, and We Are Not Ourselves... what is up next? I am not sure, but I'll take recommendations.

~ We ran, and walked, the trail almost daily.

~ We cooked... we made Broccoli Apple and Almond Salad . The dressing on it is so yummy. I even used the dressing to make a slaw for Asian Burgers. We also had this deliciousness in a Kale Salad with Meyer Lemon Dressing , and, I discovered that I LOVE pomegranate seeds. Fridays are always Fat Friday's around here. We make junk food, but healthy. A couple weeks ago we made these fabulous Avocado Chicken Burritos substituting monterey jack cheese for the mozzarella. We also fried them in coconut oil.

~ We waited for the rain... and rain it has, there seems to be no end. But, with rain comes beauty.

~ We learned new tricks like how to extend your canvas in Photoshop and some Lightroom techniques. Dream worked on his art techniques, and Blue Eyes is learning phoneography.

LTTL...15:52... a photography confession

So, my big confession. I did not take one photo with my big girl camera this month. Honestly, I didn't even realize it until I went to make my "A Month in Review" collage. Some months seem to flutter by, the days rambling into one another, until it is all done. It's during those months that I tend to ride the wind of life and just be. It's good! It's good to live life sometimes, instead of documenting it.
